Biography
Mr. Pulak Sarker is a
committed academic and vocational training specialist with over a decade of
professional experience in tourism, hospitality, and skills development. Since 20 September 2025,
he has been serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality
Management at the World University of Bangladesh. His
professional journey reflects a consistent dedication to advancing
industry-aligned education and promoting employability through competency-based
teaching and learning methodologies.
Mr. Sarker holds an MBA in Tourism and
Hospitality Management from the University of Dhaka. He began
his undergraduate studies in Tourism and Hospitality Management (BTHM)
at Americanos
College, Cyprus, and later completed the degree at the Victoria University of
Bangladesh to align his qualifications with the national
education framework.
Before joining the World
University of Bangladesh, Mr. Sarker gained extensive academic and industry
experience. He served as a Senior Instructor at the BRAC Institute of Skills Development,
Coxβs Bazar (2024β2025), and as a Lead Trainer (SEIPβT3) for the Hotel Management Training
Program at the Khulna Mohila Technical Training Center
(2023). From 2016 to 2022, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at UPDATE College,
and earlier served as a Teaching Assistant at the Victoria University of Bangladesh
(2013β2015). His international exposure includes working as an Event Coordinator
at Hilton
Cyprus (2009β2011). He has also contributed as a Task Analysis Expert
for the Skills
for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) in the tourism and
hospitality sector.
Mr. Sarker has undertaken
extensive professional training, including Competency-Based Training and Assessment
Methodology (CBT&AM), NSQF Level-4 from NSDA
(2024); Training
of Trainers (ToT) on Skills & Pedagogy in Food &
Beverage Production (SEIP, 2024); and ToT on Teaching Technique and Pedagogy
(SEIP, 2018). He also completed Hospitality Safety and First Aid Training
at the American
College, Cyprus, and OSH & Soft Skills Management Training
organized by BRAC-SEIP
(2018). Additionally, he is certified as Competent for BTEBβNTVQF Level-I in
Food & Beverage Servicing and holds NSDA Skill Certificates β NSQF Level-II
in both Housekeeping and Food & Beverage Servicing (2024).
An active contributor to
vocational education, Mr. Sarker has authored and published six Competency-Based
Learning Materials (CBLMs) on Housekeeping Occupation
under the National
Skills Development Authority (NSDA), Chief Advisorβs Office,
Government of Bangladesh.
A certified professional
trainer, Mr. Sarkerβs expertise includes curriculum design, competency-based education,
and vocational
pedagogy. His research and professional interests encompass sustainable tourism,
hospitality
operations, workforce development, and competency-based education.
Beyond academia, he has a keen passion for travel and culinary arts,
which enrich his teaching and scholarly engagement in the field of tourism and
hospitality management.
