The Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Club of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has taken a commendable step toward social empowerment by donating a steel mobile food cart to Rahima Begum (45), an underprivileged and unemployed resident of Mirpur-12. The handover took place on 1 December 2025.

Upholding the university’s longstanding commitment to social responsibility, this initiative aims to help vulnerable individuals build sustainable livelihoods. To enable Rahima Begum to start earning immediately through a small tea-and-snacks business, the THM Club not only provided the mobile food cart but also supplied all essential materials required to operate the shop.

Several senior officials from the World University of Bangladesh attended the handover ceremony, including Md. Kamrul Hossain, Joint Registrar, and A.N.M. Ahsan Thouhid, Joint Registrar. From the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Professor Mohammed Nasimul Azim, Head and Director of the Department, and Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor and Moderator of the WUB THM Club, were present, along with other faculty members of the department.

Senior leaders of the WUB THM Club, including Senior Vice Presidents Md. Alamin Dewan and Tamjed Alam, as well as active club members Mir Saikat, Saidul, Sunny, Nabila, Tasik, Noyon, and others, also attended the event.

The Joint Registrars praised the initiative, noting that the collaborative efforts of the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management and the WUB THM Club demonstrate the university’s ongoing dedication to uplifting disadvantaged communities and promoting sustainable social development.

This impactful action once again highlights WUB’s mission to drive positive change through community engagement and student-led social outreach.
