The World University of Bangladesh (WUB) actively participated in a high-level seminar, "Environmental Sustainability in Tourism: The Responsibility of Police," on September 26, 2024, positioning the university as a key contributor to national policy discussions. The event, organized by the Tourist Police Bangladesh and attended by the Inspector General of Police and a Senior Secretary, provided a critical platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue.

Representing WUB, Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, contributed directly to the policy discourse. He advocated for the strategic expansion of the Tourist Police force, a concrete policy recommendation aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the tourism sector. By engaging at this level, WUB demonstrates its commitment to shaping policies that recognize sustainable tourism as a powerful engine for economic development. A robust and secure tourism industry directly creates jobs, fosters local entrepreneurship, and preserves natural resources—all critical dimensions in the fight to end poverty.

This participation underscores the university's role in bridging academic insight with practical governance. By lending its expert voice to national bodies, WUB helps implement policies that not only protect the environment but also institutionalize tourism as a sustainable pathway out of poverty for communities across Bangladesh.
